Just sayin!... Texas is the place to be..what what!!

Texas: Though its unemployment rate may not be as low as the other states we've listed thus far (it's still 8 percent), more jobs are being created in Texas than in any other state. From April 2010 through April 2011, 254,400 jobs were added. I am not sure what to do with this blog since FB pretty much keeps track of where we are...so with that I am trying to figure out how to update life at the Wilson household. Someday I get bright ideas and think I could use this as a max and jack dialogue box, thoughts for myself and just interesting items. However I usually forget them by the time I get on here...which could be days or weeks after things occur. Anyway I am totally blabbing about nothing now....and will get on with it.

So far we have been in the grand state of Texas for 9 months...if you can believe it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the weather and will never trade it...I have been watching all the snow that I could have been living in and think "thank god, I am no longer in it" We have had a beautiful spring and I couldn't be happier.

We are now looking for a house to live in...not having much luck since the last 3 "perfect" homes we found have been snagged before we could even blink. and to be honest I wasnt going to start a bidding war between others for a house in this market. We have decided to lease for the next 2 years, mostly because our house in UT took our entire down payment from us and that if we can get in my perfect area here in 2 years which we will then I want to be able to do that. So the hunt is on for a house we can make a home for the nest 1-2 years before we settle more permanently. LOL which is a loose term for anyone who knows a "Springate" aka nomads.

Jared is doing well in his business...he has gotten a promotion at the restaurant and will be the store manager, making more money and working longer hours...he has also officially started his business and has been hired on as the North Dallas Acquisitions Manager for a Real Estate Investment Firm. Once this position kicks off he will be able to leave the restaurant business behind and concentrate on this job solely. I have to say...we are a family who are not afraid to work and I hope that he will not have to have 2 full time jobs for long...
With that said once everything gets in gear and he has finished training etc...in 4-6 months I can say good by to my job to and possibly start looking into opening my own business which I have had a plan for, for the last 5 years.

This move has been everything we needed to kick start our future. Neither of us were happy just being and wanted more for ourselves and family. This time next year things will be so different. We will be in the position we wanted to be in for a long time....success has started and we could be more pleased.

My little Boy turned 2!! I was packing away our albums and came across Max's 2nd birthday...where does time go?? He is growing up to be such an out going little boy, who loves to tease and rough house and who adores his big brother. Copying everything move and word.

I think about all the wonderful people in their lives and am so grateful to have them all.

Who says it doesn't snow here? I am pretty sure that is what that is...Over super bowl week we had more snow than Dallas has ever had on record....Go figure! But at least I knew it was a fluke and once that very bizarre week passed..it was back to normal

Thank goodness too....thats about all the snow I could handle for one season.

Starting 2011 we decided that one day every month we would dedicated to a family day. Since Jared's and my schedule are so opposite we need to plan out some time for all of us to explore and just be together.

This month we went to the Dallas World Aquarium. Which I have to say is fabulous!!! It's all indoors and this place is just massive.

Gotta love Jacks face in this picture. They had all sorts of sharks and sea life from all over the world here...

Not to mention this guy..... Well they had a few of them swimming around the whole place.

Friendly otters....

Birds to feed and sloths to pet. Monkeys swinging over your head. The list of cool and unusual things going on around you were endless.

Not to mention if you needed a stiff drink they had them for you!!! :)

I think the Dallas Aquarium is going to be a favorite stomping grounds for us now. Great place!!

January in Review. What a great start to the new year. So far everything is falling into place. New jobs, new outlook, new attitudes. We couldn't be happier. We have some work to do over the next year to settle ourselves back into a routine but we are loving it here in Dallas and cant wait to find a home to move into and settle down for a while.

New Years Resolutions 2011

It's that time of year again to start over and rethink a few things.....
This year I am convinced is going to be our year...I know it is!!!!
We have so many things to look forward to and do
This year I vow to start working on myself...take some time out and work on getting healthy and fit. I need to learn to calm down and enjoy the here and now. Its tough but I think I can do it.
Jared and I will have one date night a month as well as a dedicated family day per month. We need to spend more quality time together.
We will also start taking a family vacation per year. Its time we get out there and explore :)

The New Year is about starting over, cleaning out the bad and making good on old promises. Change only happens is you really want it to. Letting things go and moving forward.

I am very excited to see where we end up by Dec.2011 (New house, Max in proper school, Jareds career in a new direction and a healthier happier family)! I am so grateful for the wonderful time I have already had and cant wait for an even better future!!

Daddy Turns 33

Where on earth does the time go. Jared turned 33!! 10 years have flown by in a flash. It feels like yesterday that he was 23 and I was 21 living in NJ hanging with friends, going out to night clubs, parties in the city, finishing school and just living up life....flash forward 10 years and we have 2 children, moved about in three states (4 for Jared), got him his first passport and traveled outside the US on his own, visited Spain, UK, South America and have careers, new lives and are total grown ups. Scary!!!
Excited to see where the next 10 years brings us.
Happy Birthday to a wonderful man who is my rock, a perfect father, an understanding and kind hearted soul, a funny and sometimes annoying doink but most of all the love of my life..a partner I can trust whole heartily, look to for inspiration and when I need it some calmness.

Christmas 2010

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house not a create was sturing not even a....wait....no thats my boys!! making a racket :)

Christmas eve was full of Santa letters, movies at the mall with mama and papa and Santa cookies.

Max was treated to a 3D movie with Mama and Papa. They went to see Yogi Bear. He loved it. while Jared, Jack and I roamed a very crowed shopping mall. I love that Max gets these little one on one opportunities with his grandparents. Its important that he has his own special memories.

Christmas came early this year. A great start at 5am :) Max came running in our room and had to tell daddy "Santa came and brought me a light saber" it was about 6am when we started in on the stockings.

Jackie got from granddad and nonna a 4 wheeler to match Max's. If its not grown up he's not interested

These were from last night...the boys Santa letters and handmade cookies. I love these memories. Max had so much fun decorating his cookies.

Later we tracked Santa on the Santa.com tracker site. Max was very stressed he wouldn't fall asleep in time so he putt himself to bed extra early.

The boys made out like little bandets....I think they have enough toys for a year :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAXIMUS!!!

My little guy turned 5 years old on November 30th. I can't believe it.

He is such a special little man. He makes our hearts sing and his witty personality is just likes his dads.

Max got so many wonderful birthday wishes...he has the best family a kid could ever ask for. Thanks to Auntie Sammy and brian for his legos, Uncle Eric and Aunt Christi for his legos, Grandad and Nona for the batcave, papa and mama for his leapster, Uncle Pats and Auntie Shannon for his books, uncle matt for his motorbike and uncle simon and auntie irina for his cards. As Max was opening his new presents Jacks face was priceless......

Happy Christmas everyone! This year has been full of so many wonderful changes for our family and the up coming new year will bring even more. I am so grateful for a wonderful husband who not only shares the same wants and needs as me but is willing to be apart of my crazy need to experience life and everything it has to offer (let that be moving all the time to someplace new or just traveling).

As my dad always said when we were growing up "we all live on this tiny spec of a rock in this massive universe why on earth would you want to confine yourself to one place...get out there and see as much of it as you can...you don't get to do it again". So as our family grows that is exactly what we plan on doing...maybe I can convince Jared to move to Paris or Singapore:)

What else...Lets see...Jack turned 1 this year and has moved on to walking and talking, Max is 5!! which I still cant believe. My sister ran in the London Marathon in honor of Max and I participated in two walks this year: Susan B Kolmen for cancer and the Buddy walk for downs. I plan on doing more next year. With that I am trying to start up a small business that can provide donations to various children's charities. One step at a time.

Sam also moved to Singapore and hopefully we can make it to see her there before she leaves on another adventure.

Jared and I of course left UT and moved to Dallas. Which we are loving...this fall/winter has been awesome! I love not freezing my buns off :)

Jared left golf for the time being and is working as a restaurant manager while learning about real estate and working towards becoming a real estate investor. He is willing to do anything and try anything...no fear! I love that about him. Give it whirl and see what comes of it.

I left a great company and took a risk moving to TX but have started a new wonderful job and am exciting to see how it all unfolds.

Who knows what next year will bring...hopefully a new house and continued health. We will always be happy because we have each other.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a Happy 2011!!

Just playing it cool...Mr Risky Business

It's a little late..but better late than never :0 This was the first year we spent out side of UT for a holiday. We usually took the boys out before dark for trick or treating...and we froze :) NOT HERE!! We started out in the 70 degree weather before the sun set and quickly realized that NO ONE trick or treats here before the sun goes down. So we felt kind of silly going to door to door...so we cut the first round short and waited like everyone else....which is how I remember Halloween. Max and Daddy then went back out with our neighbors boys in the dark for some real fun!

It's Dinosaur Day :) We had nothing better to do with our afternoon so we went over to a local dino park. It was fun, Max was our guide. Telling us all about the dinosaurs and helping us find our way out of the miles of walking trails.
All the dinosaurs were mixed into the walking trails and everyone of them were animated and roared, spit water and moved their bodies. A few freaked Max out like this T-Rex :)
The trails also had a butterfly garden, and mini zoo. Pretty cool impromptu afternoon.

Journey to Texas!!

Our 3 Day Journey....

Colorado is a pretty state in parts...when you are up in the mountains the scenery is very pretty. Needless to say we didn't need to go through the mountains...Jared took us on the scenic route. A 3 hour out of the way route but pretty none the less.

The streets in one town were all in fractions.

The boys did very well for having to sit still for hours and hours. Plenty of movies to watch and games to play.

On our way out of CO we went through a very steep very frightening mountain pass...I was terrified. The cliffs were thousands of feet with not barriers....yikes!!! For 60 miles we went through this....thought I was going to pass out. Most likely from the altitude. 12000 feet.

And on Day Three....We finally made it to Texas!!

And not a moment to soon....

After spending 7 years living in UT having 2 kids and starting my first big job its time to move on and up in this world. I have had mixed feelings over the years...some good (family and friends) and some not so good (weather and culture)
I grew up always believing that you should never create boundaries or horizons for yourself. If you don't like something to change it. And I think its never been a secret that I just never fit into the UT way of life nor did we ever want to raise our kids in the school systems or with the prejudices. So we have moved out...I am currently in TX waiting for Jared to come back with our stuff.
This has been an emotional roller coaster...I Miss so many people and at the same time know that this is the right this to do. I want to raise my children with culture and god in their hearts but not nessessarly a religion...I want them to attend outstanding schools and live in a place that offers diversity and safety. I am not sure if Texas is all of these things but it sure is a great start and with that said we have some wonderful people here. Friends and family that have stuck with us through it all ...for years and years.
we move into our rental home next week...it needs some TLC but with a little patience in 2 years we will be in a fab house.
TEXAS here we are to stay..lets get this rodeo going :)

We truly have the best friends ever!!!

The weekend was full of fun, drinking and relaxing. The weather was perfect. I know that I am going to miss these moments when we move. I love these guys!!

Jack turns 1

Jackson Alexander turned 1 on April 23rd. I can't believe how quickly the past year has gone and how much he has grown. Jack is going to be our button pusher. He knows what he wants and he is going to do anything to get it.
We threw Jack a little party to celebrate his milestone.

The Theme was rocket ships and space...

I love how the cake turned out...not bad for us.
However Jack had his own little cake to dig into but he was having none of it.
"I said I DONT WANT any cake"!!!!!!!!!

the party favors consisted of lolly pops, pop rocks and pin wheels.

Jack had such a fun time opening his presents.

thank you Sammy and Brian for my roaring and haunted sounding Dino :) It sounds possessed in the middle of the night.

It was a great party and he got so many awesome toys and clothes...thank you everyone for coming and spoiling him to bits.

Granddad and Nonna got Jack a great sand station. He loves playing in it.

My little baby is 1 and now entering toddler hood. He is starting to show an interest in standing and pulling himself up. He loves to tease his brother and wrestle with daddy. A bit stingy on his kisses but we steal them whenever we can. I love him so much and am excited to see more of his personality come out over the next year.

Max Plays Soccer

Max has started his first soccer season and loves it!! The kids are so polite that they just wait their turn to kick it. I think practice should focus on aggression.

His team has 3-4 year old on it so if they are not just chasing each other they are petting the dogs, picking the grass or just sitting down. Its good exercise and Max just thinks it the best ever. He practices making goals and kicking it has hard as he can.

Lifehouse/ Daughtry

My first real stadium concert!! Jared took me to see Lifehouse and Daughtry. We had fab seats only a few rows away from the stage.

I think I am a concert junkie now..well hope to be. It was so nice to have a proper date with my hubby.
It's been so long since we did something other than dinner and a movie (UT staple).

Lifehouse was amazing, they remind me so much of the days at Sandestin. (the summer I met Jared)

A couple of weeks ago we braved the 50 degree weather and went out to the park with some friends. Max's little buddy who used to go to the same daycare and is on his soccer team Austin joined us at TKP.

Happy Easter Everyone!!
This is Jack's First Easter...It's fun celebrating it with 2 children.
Max woke up early and went straight down stairs to see what the Easter bunny left him...lol. I am not really sure how I feel about the whole Easter Bunny thing...should we make it like Santa or does it not matter.....I don't mind the whole Easter baskets and small toys but I would prefer this to be a more religious holiday...now with that said we never made it to church. lol...whoops!

Before we go on...I have to set the scene. We did not have an Easter egg hunt:( Now before I let out my anger and cry I kept a happy face for my family...and thoughts of how nice next Easter will be.

So we made the best of it and hunted eggs in our house.

Now for my pride and Joy...For those who remember the lovely bunny cake my mom made every year... and my super happy find on ebay. We brought some grandmommy tradition to Easter Sunday! And I also tried my hand at fresh from scratch hot crossed buns on good Friday. I hope my mom is looking down with pride:)

Jack is almost 1 years old...just a few weeks left...what happened to my little baby. Well I guess its time for #3! lol just kidding! Not yet.

Things Jack loves:

TO EAT!! and I mean everything you give him. Favorites: yogurt, mac and cheese with veggies and cheerios

He loves to play with his brothers cars and crash them into each other, playing with balls, bouncing and drawing (yes I said drawing...give him a crayon and what he doesn't eat he draws with)...learning from the master!

He can say: mama, dada, dog, good, and uh oh!

It's Like Riding a Bike....

Yay! A nice day. Those have been few and far between this spring. So we took advantage and daddy went out with Max to teach him how to ride his bike.

It's been hard to keep his feet on the pedals...he understand the motion. So we rigged the pedals with tape so his feet would stay on. I will need to buy some Velcro until he really gets it down.

Overall...pretty successful. He is doing well and will be riding around all by himself by summer!

A nice family day out. It's feeling like a long winter even though its been very mild for Utah. So we decided to take a day for us.
Starting our Wilson Day out at lunch (Zupas) soups, salads, sandwiches and chocolate covered strawberries all round.

Then it was off to the bowling ally, I have not been to one of these in forever. (Years)
Max was so excited. He said he could perfect his wii game by doing the real thing.... (rolling the eyes)

Max beat mommy on the second game...I would either get a strike or miss completely.
Absolutely no middle ground for this bowler :)

It was a great afternoon for a cold winters day!

Tutu Madness!

I am starting to feel like my old ambitious self again...tons of business ideas flowing through my head. Creating really cute tutu's, head bands, hair bows and stationery items that I just cant wait to start selling. In the process of creating my very own website!

Here is a look at my very first tutu creation...they have gotten much better and much cuter with each new design i come up with :)

Right now I am still practicing and giving them away to friends with little girls. I will have Sarah take some professional pictures with her little beauties so I can post some models to my website.

I am not going launch anything until after we move so I can get the proper tax ID's and paypal accounts once.

AND!!!! I just got the thumbs up that we can move to warmer places and I get to keep my job!! You have no idea how great that feels. I am so happy to know that my boss values me so much he would rather have me work remote than not at all. I knew 6 years of dedication would pay off :)

A serious weight has been lifted from my shoulders and now I can plan, pack and look forward to moving. I think we will be out of here in mid August...Jared is going to get through this golf season here because he makes good money (good moving money) and it will be just in time to get Max into Pre-school. Our thoughts are Naples, FL. I have fallen in love with what I have read and seen online. Beaches here we come!!!!

I'm a Big Boy Now 9 Months

Now that Jack is 9 months old he loves to sit in a proper highchair in resturants, eats all kinds of snacks and has grown to be a 19.5 pound baby.

Quick House update: We had 2 offers on the house and both backed out after our counter offer. Now let me tell you this is so frustrating. I understand this is a buyers market but JC this isn't offer what you want even if its absurd and expect to get it. What are people thinking. We are already underwater in our house so they are getting a screaming deal. We have only asked they pay closing costs.
Better Luck next time....its not going to stop us from moving but it would be nice to get this monkey off our backs.
BTW: The plan is to move no later than August. We want to get Max into a proper pre-school before the semester starts. Gotta get him ready for Kindergarten even though looking through their criteria Max has master all of it except for the age requirement.
Maybe private school :)

Sitting up!

YAY! As Jack turns 9 months old, he has finally decided to grow up and become a big boy...via sitting up on his own. Finally! He had no ambition to do so until he was good and ready.

Jack can also now say 4 words: mama, dada, dog, and Mac (aka Max)

I might not have physically ambitious babies but they sure are smart ones.

He now eats pretty much everything...loves gold fish crackers, Cheerios's, bread, fruit, pancakes, pudding, yogart, avocado, squash, and of course the Wilson favorite..Ice cream.

A Sea of Chairs

Max has a new hobby...collecting all of the chairs from downstairs and creating super "Tree Houses" as he would like to call them. Each time is a new design, he drags each one by himself into the living room. I love watching his imagination at work.

Well.....I have no new pictures. can you believe it? I am such a slacker.
January has proven to be a crazy month. Jared is fighting hard for his unemployment. I can't believe some employers...I told him he should have walked away a year ago from that stupid job. Some people never get it and his boss was one of those people. I saw that 3 years ago when his partner left....You would think a light bulb would have gone off then but i think this guys is permanently dim.
A perfect example of why college is a good thing!

Anyways...moving on from that Jared is working harder than ever to find a nice job in a warm sunny climate. And I am waiting for some good news.
Since our house has been on the market we have had 3 very interested people....hopefully this will also be in the past very soon.

To keep my spirits up I have been ebaying items we no longer need and packing old stuff up, cleaning out closets etc...just in case this needs to be a quick move.
I have also started a 30 day get fit program. I am curious how much I can lose and how toned I can get. So far so good but I am only on day 4 :)

The Moving Diaries

Well....Its official.
Jared and I are heading to warmer pastures. YAY! We have decided to place our house on the market and move on.
It's been almost 7 years here. OMG! It was only supposed to be 6 months. Time has flown but this makes 12 years in the snow and cold and I am freakin over it.
I am looking forward to warmer climates year round and even a beach to drive to.
We will see what happens but I know for sure after this winter passes this will be the last snowy winter! Our plan is to be out of here by the end of summer/ fall time.
Not sure where we are moving to yet but have narrowed it down to: Atlanta, Charleston, Dallas, or FL. I am great with any of them. All is on Jareds sholders and the best golf job he can find.
Its going to be a new and fun adventure! I can hardly wait.
I am going to be sad to leave family and friends but this is going to be the best thing for us, I am a firm believer in changing what makes you unhappy. There is no where for us to go here so its time to try something new.

Yay for Christmas morning. We lucked out this year, Max didn't wake up until 7.30am.

He was very excited to see if Santa came ...but he was too scared to check by himself just in case the Jolly man was still in our house.

Once we got downstairs he noticed right away the stockings filled and the tree had tons of presents under it.

Jack just sat back and watched the excitement as his big brother opened his gifts.

Jacks cookie monster was a big hit....yum yum!

The Night before Christmas and all through the Wilson house the boys were getting ready for Santa Clause. They wore thier Christmas Jammie's and made Santa cookies.

The boys wrote letters to Santa.

Max wanted snow and transformers...

Jack wanted play things....and MILK

We decorated the gingerbread house and read stories.

Max was so excited he went straight to bed with no fuss.

He thought if he didnt fall asleep fast Santa would pass his house.

ZOO Lights

Just before Christmas we went to Hogle zoo for the Christmas Zoo lights. It was VERY cold but very pretty.
Miss Keira and Mr Keagan joined us for the fun.

Temple Lights

A couple weeks before Christmas we decided to brave the cold and go out with the Hardy family and mama and papa to see the lights at Temple Square.

The lights were very pretty. I love Christmas lights!!

On Thursday of our trip (day 6) we went to Cocoa beach. I will let the pictures show the absolute excitement of Max and the ocean. He has no fear!!
I told Jared how lovely would it be to go to the beach a few times a week after work.
Ahhhh its such a simple thing but there is nothing else like it for me. I could sit and watch the waves everyday.

On Monday Nov 30th we went to Walt Disney World. It was Max's 4th Birthday and we thought what a great way to spend it. I think Max's exact words were "This is the best birthday ever"!!
From the minute we walked in the gates Max's little eyes lit up. I have to say seeing it through his eyes made it so special.
He lasted the whole day with very little upsets. He was determined to find Mickey Mouse. Which in my opinion he should be right there as you walk in. We saw Goofy, Minnie, Daisy, Pluto, Tigger, Pooh, Alice. I was expecting there to be more of them but thats ok it was Max's day and he loved every minute of it.
Max rode the teacups, race cars, a roller coaster, flying carpet, its a small world, pirates of the Caribbean, jungle cruise.
We stayed to watch the electrical parade. I have to say it is still wonderful and brings a nostalgic tear to your eye.
Sammy and I cried to watch Max on daddys shoulder waving at all the characters as they go by. It was so sweet to see him think that these characters are real. Ahhh..to be a child again :)
The day ended with fireworks and a trip into the Disney store to pick up the boys Mickey Mouses.
Max was so tired by the end of the day he fell asleep cuddling his new best buddy.

Max's Florida Birthday Party at Granddad's and Nonna's

After our 4 hour flight to Florida..we arrived to sunshine and warm weather. This trip has made me realize how much I really don't fit into Utah. (Sorry to those of you who live here and love it)
Anyways we spent Sunday at Granddad and Nonna's house celebrating being together and Max's 2nd birthday party. You would think this kid was a celeb with his 3 parties this year.
There is nothing like sitting in the sunshine on November 29th in 75 degree weather listening to Christmas music...Now that's what I am talking about.

Enter the Haunted House of the Wilsons. Since this year Halloween was on a Saturday we decided to take advantage and host a Halloween party.

On October 30th we were invited to an adult Halloween party. I went as a lady bug and Jared was DR. Wilson.

Scarecrow Festival

On Saturday we went to the Scarecrow festival with a bunch of our friends...The Sorensons and Wilsons. It was a very warm day and Max played like no other.

Max in the bouncy castle... He loved that thing.

Poor little Jack...I should say big Jack. That hat fit Max at 1 year and it is too small on Jack who is not quite 6 months.

Pumpkin Picking

We had a fun time at the pumpkin patch. Still nothing like the ones in NJ with pie, games, mazes and apple picking but this was still a great place.

Max picked out 7 pumpkins..two each for him and Jack (Jack got little pumpkins because he is so small and Max got the biggest pumpkins he could find.
Then we picked a mommy and daddy pumpkin and one extra for fun.

The farm has a really large apple and cherry orchard. Unfortunately you cannot pick your own apples.

The Childrens Garden Part 2

We went back to the Childrens garden with cousin Keira.
I really like this place. It is full of mazes, little activities and connects right to Thanksgiving point gardens one of my favorite places here.
I still think they need to open it up for Christmas and have sleigh rides and lights...maybe I need to make the suggestion.
I would love to make Max and Jack a fort when we move into our next house.

Max is the greatest big brother...always looking out for Jack and wanting to help. He has never gotten angry at him.

He can now role over, plays with his feet and loves apple sauce.
He talks up a storm and has to be held at all times. If you put him down he will yell at you until you pick him up again.

I have to say that I do like it here in UT during the summer months. The weather is nice, especially in the mountains.
Our friends (Aaron and Sarah) invited us up to their family cabin in the mountains for Labor Day weekend.
It was beautiful! More like a lodge than a cabin.

We had such a nice time hanging out with friends. Max had the most fun and thought he died and went to heaven. Our friends sister also came with her 5 boys (ages 12-3). I have never seen Max play so hard and for so long.

They also had a very friendly dog.

We got the opportunity to play on some 4-wheelers. Of course Max thought it was the greatest thing ever!!

Jack wasn't sure what to make of it all. He knew he wasn't at home.

Karate

Max had a test run at a karate class last night. He is a bit young since they don't start until age 4 but they allowed him to join in to see how he would handle it.
Loved it!!!
So every Thursday evening for 30 min Max will be taking Karate. I wish I could take pictures but they do not allow the parents in the studio. I understand why...but I would have loved to be watching. We can only see them through a small window.
Now I want to buy him a karate outfit. I think it will help him with his confidence in class. He was a little timid. They do not need outfits but I think it helps with the whole process :) and I think they are really cute!
Jared and I both feel this will be good for Max to learn discipline and his body. Yesterday they learned how to bow before entering and exiting the mat, as well as some simple punching moves and tumbling.
We are so proud of him. We have a shy little one, but he is very good at following directions and trying new things.

My first Solid Food

He tasted, he swallowed, he conquered!!

Jack had his first go at solid foods on Saturday. He did very well and took to it quickly. He also got tired of it quickly.

He has been so hungry all the time we talked to his doctor about starting him on solids. Milk never really seemed to keep him happy for long. So this week its rice cereal, next week something a little more adventurous.

Learning how to write

Maximus has been learning how to write his letters and sound out each one out. He can recognize all of them in any random order and loves to practice spelling his name out. His teacher has commented on how much he loves to write. Any chance he gets he grabs a different letter worksheet to trace and practice. I think we are going to have an early reader and writer.

Usually I am full of posts and pictures but there is not much going on....and Jared stole my camera for Palm Beach. Maybe we will have pictures upon his return :)

Sad really....its hot and I love it. I have created the logo for my website.....

I will have it up and running Sept 1. Still on target.

Work is work but I am now helping the Marketing team project manage their projects. Hopefully it will be a new in for me. I would love to be finally working in my Field of study!
Fingers crossed..if nothing else it will give me more project management experience to take with me.
Max is doing awesome and counting down the day for daddy to come home and us going to Disney.
Jack is growing so fast and right now is as sick as a dog. Poor baby!

Park City Open Air Market

On Sunday we went to the open air market in Park City with cousin Keira.
Finally something to do on a Sunday, other than a shopping mall :)
It was hot..but I am not complaining!!
We walked around the boothes and got hotdogs, snowcones and listened to a little music.
We stopped at the Childrens area where Max and Keira hulahooped (video at the bottom)

Then they painted some lovely pictures...

Afterwards Max got his facepainted. Of course its Spiderman!

I was very impressed that he stayed so still

July 4th

I love the 4th of July. It is the definition of summer. Warm weather, BBQ's, fireworks, staying up late, summer evenings, music, festivals..my list could go on and on. Did I mention the warm weather. AWWWWW.

I am starting to feel like a broken record but I can't tell you how much I love the warm..hot temps.

This year we went to the Thanksgiving point fireworks. We did the same last year but didnt go to the main park area. Not knowing that they have music, food and all kinds of festivities. Now we know and will be doing this as our annual 4th celebration for as long as we are living here (2 more years)...LOL!

Max loved the fireworks.

And of course he had to have a glow stick. I wonder what happened to that thing?

Jack also enjoyed the lights and actually didnt mind the loud popping noises the fireworks made.

He watched quite intensely at the bright flashes.

The music was great. It reminded me of when my family used to go to see the fireworks in Dallas. I can't remember the name of the area but I remember the horses (statues), food and orchestra.

Memories...I miss those days, I had such a great life growing up.

During the firework display they played all American themed songs. Onc "was coming to America" by Neil Diamond. I am such a sap but I started to cry. Neil Diamond reminds me of my dad so much...it is just one of those things. I miss him so much and cant wait to see him again and hopefully live closer soon.

What a Life..To be a Baby

To be a baby. You sleep, eat, poop and if you feel like it coo.

We have been working on Jack's tummy time. Trying to strengthen his neck and arm muscles.

He is growing up so quickly. He laughs, smiles and talks up a storm. He loves to watch Max and hates being left out of anything.
We had a giftcard to spend from grandad and nonna for Jacks big arrival and decided to get him a playmat. He loves to watch himself in the mirror. I am trying to get him to grab the toys but I think we might be a couple of weeks from that yet.

He is not rolling over or pushing himself up but thats ok..depending on what you read they dont master that until 4-5 months, so we have time.

I think Max liked the new toy just as much.

Baby Birds

We noticed about a month or so ago some swifts trying to build a nest on our front porch. Not wanting birds attacking us every time we tried to come in and out of our front door we decided to knock the half built structure down.
Not realizing that the very next day they had re-built the nest twice as strong. Feeling a little guilty we decided to let them have their nest. We figured they were getting ready to have some babies.
Within a few weeks of building the couple became proud baby bird parents of 4.
The pictures are not great..I was taking them through our window so not to disturb or scare away the adults.

The little chicks are ready to take flight now...all grown up. I am not sure how they all manage to stay in the nest without falling out. I check once a day or so. Once they have all flown away and left the nest we will take it down. It was nice having the birds out there but its time to claim my porch back.

A Summer Weekend

Our weekend started a little rocky...well to be honest I was a lot pissy. I wanted to finally get to the pool to find out the first weekend I pick its Lehi Days and the pool is closed. If I would have been paying attention I would have changed the weekend plans. Max would have liked to see the parade and go to the city park for bouncy rides etc....
Instead we went to Draper city pool. Took us over 2 hours to get there and poor Jack was starving. AHHHH. However once we go there I was happy to be in the sun and in the water.
I LOVE SUMMER!!! (No pictures at the pool forgot my camera) But we will be going to the pool weekly now the weather has finally caught up to the season.

Sunday while daddy was golfing Max mommy and Jack went to the park.

Rock on boys! As part of Jared's Fathers day treats he got an extra guitar for Guitar Hero so him and Max could play together.
